Wir machen uns wieder auf den Weg, diesmal ins Gefängnis:
Die Idee für diese Tour kam Sarah bereits als Teenager
als sie anfing ihre ersten Lieder zu schreiben und eingeladen wurde ihre Songs in den Gefängnissen ihrer Heimatstadt Vechta zu spielen.
Noch heute erinnert sie sich gut an die Atmosphäre, die bei diesen besonderen Konzerten herrschte: „ Die meisten meiner Zuhörer waren Menschen, die eine schwere Vergangenheit hinter sich hatten. Es waren Leute, deren Herz die Musik auf eine ganz eigene Art und Weise erreichte.
Hier an diesem traurigen Ort konnte ich Menschen glücklich machen, indem ich für sie sang.“
Johnny Cash at Folsom-Prison bestärkte Sarah in ihrer Idee eine Gefängnistour ins Leben zu rufen, unterstützt von der Gefährdetenhilfe e.v ( Die Gefährdetenhilfe verzeichnet über 5.000 Mitglieder, ist als mildtätig anerkannt und dem Diakonischen Werk der Evangelischen Kirche im Rheinland angeschlossen.)
beginnt sie ihre erste Tour zusammen mit ihrer Band durch folgende Gefängnisse:

1. It really has come true! we are living in one of Germany`s nicest places now, in a small village close to beautiful Dresden, in a house way bigger than we imagined with rooms for more than thirty people.
the whole idea behind it is quite interesting: to start an artist community, a place where creative people have time and space for writing, recording, painting etc.etc. we think of a place where people could just be, have time to listen and to time to heal.

3. this month a new book from our landesbischöfin margot käßman will be in stores, in which i also wrote a little story about my experiences with jesus and the church. the book is called: ” Was ich dir mitgeben möchte. Orientierungspunkte auf dem Weg zum Leben. ” ( Güterloher Verlagshaus)
4. it´s time for a 7-inch vinyl! in february i will record 4 new songs with the help of stevi w. on the bass and burk on the drums.
5. we will be on tour again: in march, april and may. go to ” tourdates” for more details.
6. a short film called ” grau ” just came out- with one of my songs “for your beauty”. it´s a film about drug addiction and how scary things get that way.

Das waren klasse Konzerte, es hat gut getan so viele von Euch wiederzusehen! Die Tour geht weiter, jetzt ist Sarah erstmal ne Woche in Mannheim und danach gibt es ein paar freie Tage. Weiteres findet Ihr unter Tourdates.

Early Morning Hours
When Sarah Brendel sings she takes you into another world. Her bewitchingly unique music captivates the heart of the listener and reminds him of marvellous little pavement cafés where delicate folk music is played. Her extraordinary sound is nurtured by intrinsically conventional Folk sounds and evolves as one that‘s all her own. Sarah‘s bell-like voice is accompanied by vibrating country beats, dreamy strings, playful piano parts. She experiments with casio sounds and accordion and tells stories of a never-ending love.
“Early Morning Hours” is an adventure journey between Folk, Indie and Pop. The songs are full of lyricism, like the first gentle sunbeams in the morning. Like a beautiful scenery, inspiring and on tip-toes, subtle as the tune of a music box and then wild, energetic and startling!
A beautiful highlight of “Early Morning Hours” is when Larry Norman and Sarah sing together. You can feel the intensity when they sing “Back To The Dust” together, a song about death and the heart.
And Larry Norman is singing with a heart that longs for home.
The two songs Larry recorded with Sarah in Berlin are the last ones he recorded during his lifetime. Larry Norman died on 24 February 2008 at the age of 60 in Portland, USA.
